Tulsa, OK (PRWEB) February 17, 2005 — The Indigenous Democratic Network, the nation’s only organization devoted to increasing the number of Native Americans serving in elective offices, announced today that it will formally celebrate its launch with a reception in Washington, D.C., on February 28, 2005.

The Indigenous Democratic Network, or INDN, was founded by Kalyn Free, the first woman elected District Attorney of Oklahomas Pittsburg and Haskell counties and a 2004 United States Congressional candidate. At the organizations core is INDNs List. Modeled after EMILYs List, INDNs List is dedicated to recruiting and training Democratic Indians considering or planning on running for local or state offices, as well as their key staff. And if they decide to run, INDN will help them build effective campaigns and monitor their progress. Training will be provided free of charge to recruited candidates and staff.

Free is thrilled to finally launch INDN, a concept that she had dreamed about developing for more than a dozen years. She is also excited by the support the organization has already received from tribal leaders, tribal members and Indian Country friends. Free hopes that support will grow as INDN embarks on its mission: to change the make-up of office holders by electing Native American men and women to office across America and inspire Native Americans to get involved in politics by working on campaigns and voting.

It is time for Indian Country and friends of Indian Country to support our own,” Free says. It is time that America realized that Indians are no longer merely a swing vote to be courted, that tribes are no longer simply viewed as a source of campaign cash, but that we want representation at all levels of governments, and that we are going to have that representation.”

The launch reception, which will be attended by tribal leaders and Indian Country supporters, will be held on February 28, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., at the Wyndham Washington, D.C. For more information, visit www.indnslist.org.

About The Indigenous Democratic Network
Founded in 2005, the Indigenous Democratic Network is the only grassroots political organization devoted to recruiting, training and electing Native American candidates and mobilizing the Indian Vote.

JewsforKerry.com, a new website for Jewish democrats, has been launched just in time for the Republican National Convention (http://www.jewsforkerry.com).

Ari Hoffnung, who served as a volunteer member of the 1996 Clinton-Gore Youth Strategy Group, founded JewsforKerry.com to encourage Jews to support John Kerry for President and to vote for Democratic candidates in 2004. The site includes policy statements, campaign news, and resources for Jewish democratic activists and voters.

The website was developed by Hoffman Media Group, a Chicago-based web design firm lead by former political consultant Michael Hoffman.

Hoffnung hopes the site will provide information to Jewish democrats interested in developing a more detailed understanding of where John Kerry stands on Israel and other issues of importance to the Jewish community, like a womens right to choose, stem cell research, and the use and preservation of our countrys natural resources.

Jewish Democrats who are considering voting for President Bush in November may be doing so out of genuine concern for the State of Israel, but their support for President Bush is sorely misguided. John Kerry has maintained a 100% pro-Israel record throughout his 20 years of service in the United States Senate,” said Hoffnung, a New York City resident, and the 30-year-old founder of JewsforKerry.com.

The site also includes an online shop that features Kerry — Edwards campaign paraphernalia in both Hebrew and English. To date, the sites most popular products have been from its exclusive “Bush, Kiss My Tush!” line of t-shirts, buttons, and infant creepers (http://www.cafepress.com/jewsforkerry.11229518).

Just because were in the midst of the most important election in our nations history doesnt mean we cant have a little fun!” said Hoffnung.

Not only has Governor Dean offended nearly everyone with his reference to the Confederate Flag, but he hasnt got American political and economic history right either,” says Regina Mullen, Director of African Americans for Democratic Leadership.

Todays poor white is not likely to be the descendant of a plantation slaveholder. More likely, he is the marginalized descendant of an immigrant who lived in conditions of indentured servitude, which mutated into a serf-like existence under slavery. His ancestors were more likely drafted to fight the Civil War right off the boat, coalminers who died of black lung, sweatshop workers, soldiers or veterans. He is more likely the member of a legacy welfare family or an Appalachian who has all but dropped off the national political radar, than someone who owned slaves.”

Lower class whites form an underserved demographic, because no one wants to admit that they exist. Its not just poor whites with off-brand flags who are victims of the military-industrial-prison complex, its the disheartened poor of every color.

Race/class distinctions have served both Northern and Southern aristocrats equally in maintaining status-envy, and if the Democrats dont make that message clear in 2004, they are no better than Republicans. Howard Dean can pump up the poor white vote all he likes by equating them with slaveholders, but at the end of the day, what are Democrats really going to do for them? Black people want to know.”

Its not about Northern carpetbaggers, and its not about political correctness and apologies. Its about dismantling social control based on racism and class-ism. Americans dont want pandering followed by politically expedient apologies,–Americans want a candidate who understands the needs of all demographics s/he will serve as President. Democrats have less than a year to get a winning policy communicated to the American people. After the losses in Kentucky and Mississippi, they should stop serving up facile MLK sound bytes and pay better attention to the needs of all Americans without artificial distinction. At the 2004 dance, Democrats need both feet on the floor, not in their mouths.”

Dillon, Mont. (Vocus/PRWEB ) April 14, 2010 — Great Harvest Franchising, Inc. is a winner of the WorldBlu List of Most Democratic Workplaces™ global award sponsored by WorldBlu, a company specializing in democracy in the workplace. Great Harvest Franchising, Inc. is a four-time WorldBlu List award winner.

The announcement came as part of the fourth annual Democracy in the Workplace Day on April 13th. For-profit and non-profit organizations from across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the UK, India, the Netherlands, and Malaysia made the list from industries such as technology, healthcare, telecommunications, media, manufacturing, aerospace and retail, representing over billion in combined annual sales.

“Nothing has proven the need for a new model of business as definitively as the current economic crisis,” says WorldBlu Founder and CEO, Traci Fenton. “These democratic companies model how giving power to their people, especially during challenging economic times, can increase innovation and engagement while boosting the bottom-line.”

Mike Ferretti, CEO of Great Harvest Bread Company, said he believes a democratic business model gives a company a competitive advantage during an economic slow-down. “Democratic workplaces have more flexibility in addressing economic issues,” said Ferretti. “At Great Harvest we own issues together by sharing a tremendous amount of information. This allows us to view and evaluate all the little pieces that make up big issues. This, of course, is a strength during any economic condition, but is vitally important during an economic downturn.”

Fenton added that Democratic organizations operate on the principles of freedom rather than fear and control. “They understand that the future of business is more about participation, less about titles and more about meaning in order to be competitive in this new, democratic age,” said Fenton.

To be considered for the Worldblu recognition, company employees complete a survey evaluating their organization’s practice of ten democratic principles, including transparency, dialogue, listening, integrity, accountability and leadership. WorldBlu developed the survey tool based on a decade of research into what makes a world-class democratic organization.

WorldBlu List organizations make use of a variety of unique practices that are distinctly democratic and contribute to profitability, high performance and engagement. This year’s list contains several organizations that sustained their place on the WorldBlu List for the fourth consecutive year. They are AIESEC International, Axiom News, BetterWorld Telecom, Beyond Borders, Continuum, Dreamhost, Equal Exchange, Great Harvest Bread Company, Guayaki, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and TakingITGlobal. Third year winners include DaVita, Innovation Partners International, La Siembra Co-operative, MindValley, sweetriot, and Tracer Corporation. A company’s longevity on the list is an indicator of its authenticity and sustainability as a democratic organization.

“Organizational democracy is inevitable,” comments Fenton. “The Internet, the demands of Generations X and Y to have a voice at in the workplace, and the Gallup Organization’s report that nearly two-thirds of US workers are disengaged at work are causing businesses to rethink their management models and embrace a more democratic style. The companies that choose organizational democracy will lead their industries, boost their bottom-lines, and ultimately build a more democratic world.”

Menlo Park, Calif. and Iowa City, Iowa (PRWEB) November 19, 2007 — In preparation for its first multi-candidate campus visit, the University of Iowa Democrats today announced a partnership with Predictify to predict the likely outcomes of the much-anticipated political events of 2008. As part of the deal, the University of Iowa Democrats will post a series of questions on Predictify about upcoming electoral events, including the Iowa Caucuses. The resulting data will be used to formulate questions for candidates attending the student group’s Presidential Talk Back, taking place on December 8th.

predictify logo

“Given the importance of the Iowa Caucuses, getting insight into what’s likely to happen is tremendously valuable,” said Iowa Democrats President, Atul Nakhasi. “Predictify gives us a perspective that polls can’t provide. We’ll use that perspective to create questions for our event and directly engage the presidential candidates on issues that affect America’s youth.”

An umbrella organization for campus Democrat clubs, the University of Iowa Democrats has become a crucial player in the Iowa caucuses, where the first electoral delegates in the 2008 presidential campaign will be chosen. The influential student group has already played host to six presidential candidates in the last four months, including Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards.

To gather proprietary data on upcoming political events, the University of Iowa Democrats turned to Predictify, a prediction platform that taps into the collective wisdom of Internet users to make powerful predictions. Predictify asks members to consider the likely outcome of an event, which often results in a more accurate prediction than polls or surveys based on personal preferences.

“Collective predictions have a long history of outperforming surveys and polls, especially in politics,” said Parker Barrile, founder and CEO of Predictify. For example, Predictify users recently outperformed economists surveyed by Thomson Financial in predicting the October 2007 Consumer Confidence Index. Predictify users predicted an index level of 98.9, while the economists predicted 99.4; the actual outcome was 95.6.

Unlike prediction markets, Predictify uses a simple question-and-answer model to capture the full distribution of predictions, not just the average. Anyone can sign up to be a member, post their own questions and analyze the results with easy-to-use graphical tools. Members can also find events that interest them, predict the outcome, build a reputation based on accuracy and even get paid real money when they’re right. Best of all, it’s free to predict – no points or bets are required.

The first two questions posted by the University of Iowa Democrats on Predictify are:

There are several more questions to come. Those interested in becoming a part of this phenomenon can sign up on www.predictify.com to start predicting today.

About Predictify
Studies have shown that large groups of regular people are often more accurate than a small group of experts at predicting the outcome of future events. Predictify is a prediction platform that harnesses this collective wisdom and makes predicting easy and fun. Predictify is based in Menlo Park, Calif., and can be found on the Web at www.predictify.com.

The author of the book, Anthony E. Fairfax, brings to light compelling evidence that the popular vote for the Democratic candidate for president trended in an extremely predictable and “linear” pattern from 1972 to 2000 (if the election of 1976 is disregarded). In fact, the Trend was so predictable that the popular vote for the Democratic candidates, in the elections of 1992, 1996, and 2000, could have all been determined in 1988 with an accuracy of 99% or better. During that same period of time, the popular vote for the Republican candidates did not display a predictable pattern and fluctuated from election to election.

Hampton, VA (PRWEB) October 31, 2008 — The Democratic Trend Phenomenon discusses a unique and virtually unknown phenomenon pertaining to the popular vote for the Democratic candidate for president.

Democratic Trend Phenomenon Graph

This unique predictability or “linearity” has been deemed by Fairfax as, “The Democratic Trend Phenomenon.” His book discusses the cause of the phenomenon, measures its predictability, and outlines the future effects. “Amazingly, the predictable trend occurs despite the fact that each election contained varying voter turnout percentages, different opponents, fluctuating U.S. and global conditions, and diverse candidates,” states Fairfax. These differing electoral conditions are extremely intriguing when you consider that: the voter turnout fluctuated from election to election; opponents varied from Richard Nixon to Ronald Reagan to George W. Bush; and Democratic candidates ranged from George McGovern to Bill Clinton to Al Gore.

One of the most interesting discoveries of this novel theory involves projecting the popular vote percentage for the Democratic candidates as well as those whom Fairfax calls the “Non-Democratic” candidates. Because of the phenomenon, the percentages of the popular vote for the Democratic and combined Non-Democratic candidates also tend to trend in a linear fashion. Projecting the percentage for the 2008 election yields 51.1% (+/- 2.7%) of the popular vote for Senator Barack Obama while 48.9% (+/- 2.5%) is divided amongst Senator John McCain and the other Non-Majority Party candidates. Fairfax states that an even more interesting side note is that these projections could have been made shortly after the 2004 election.

The book is divided into four parts. Part One of the book includes chapters that describe the phenomenon as well as layout a theory that outlines the historical environment that existed in order to create the predictable trend. Part Two includes chapters with statistical techniques that prove the presence of the Phenomenon along with other associated trends. Part Three analyzes the Phenomenon at the state level. Part Four includes chapters that discuss the future potential results regarding the popular vote for the Democratic candidates for president.

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) July 13, 2006 — Subtle but profound differences over the future of the Democratic Party were apparent in recent back-to-back presentations to the New Democratic Network (NDN) by New York Senator Hillary Clinton and Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack. Click http://www.goiam.org/content.cfm?cID=8166 to hear both speeches.

Senator Clinton rolled out a litany of Democratic domestic priorities stymied by the GOP-controlled Congress while Governor Vilsack pointed to victories won by Democrats at the state level.

On jobs and international trade, two issues of direct concern to International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers (IAM) members, the contrast was striking. Governor Vilsack talked about jobs lost to global trade and called for “a new social compact that gives workers a voice” in corporate decision-making. Senator Clinton, describing herself as a free-trader, complained about the lack of enforcement by the Bush administration of existing trade laws.

“It is still early,” said IAM President Tom Buffenbarger. “But Machinist union members are listening carefully to this debate. They want candidates who will challenge the status quo on jobs and trade.”

The IAM is one of the largest trade unions in North America and represents more than 720,000 active and retired members. For more information about the IAM, visit their website at www.goiam.org.

African American voters are taken for granted by the Democratic Party

(PRWEB) April 12, 2004 –This is the claim of the new book, Black Power: strategies for achieving and utilizing power in America.” African Americans vote Democrat irregardless of what the candidate stands for. They need to be asking the Democrats, What have you done for me lately?” George Bush pushed legislation that was supported by those who voted for him. What exactly did Bill Clinton do for the African American community? Yet they voted to reelect him like he was one of their own.

The book goes on to state …the Klan sometimes votes Democrat sometimes Republican. They cast their vote for the candidate that supports their issues. Whereas African Americans vote for any Democrat that is running for office, regardless of what he stands for.

This is a serious deterrent for Blacks achieving political power in the U.S.,” states the books author Michael Alan Townsend. African Americans need to imitate other groups and make politicians earn their vote. If African Americans learn to switch their votes strategically, both parties will become dependant on them and will cater more to their needs. Otherwise it will be more of the same. If you keep doing what youve been doing, youll keep getting what youve been getting.”

This is just one of the many strategies detailed in this book. The book, Black Power: strategies for achieving and utilizing power in America” is available at the publishers website bronxvillage.com as well as amazon.com for .95. Rosie O’Donnell is not alone in her calls to nationalize BP. If President Obama were to move on the oil giant to clean up the Gulf Oil Disaster, 71% of Democrats would applaud the action.

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 11, 2010 — Democratic voters seem to agree with Rosie O’Donnell in her calls for ‘Nationalizing BP’. The question asked of 2236 registered Democrats on June 7 and June 8, 2010 reveals a strong vein among the Democrats for President Obama to ‘assert’ himself and take action on the Gulf crisis. ‘Would You Approve of President Obama Nationalizing BP Operations to Pay For The Gulf Cleanup?’ is the question asked of a large group of registered Democrats who voted in the last election. Racial breakdown of the survey was as follows: 16% African American, 71% White/European and 11% Hispanic and 2% Other/Don’t Know/Refused or Avoided Answer. (African Americans represent approximately 12% of the U.S. Population and were slightly over-represented in this survey).

“I had no idea that such a large portion of registered Democrats would applaud President Obama if he were to make such a move” said Michael Lodee the Director of T.P. Polling which is a division of of A.H.F. Analytics. A.H.F. or Abrams, Herzog & Filippi is a polling organization based in New York that usually specializes in polling done for other groups and organizations.

“This clearly shows that although FOX News and the bloggers jumped on Rosie O’Donnell’s comments as evidence of how far left her opinions were, is this truly an accurate way to analyze her outburst? With such a large percentage of registered Democrats agreeing with her idea of nationalizing BP it is hardly out of the mainstream” said Mr. Lodee.

“November is starting to look like the most important election perhaps in our lives as America faces a stark choice. We will either be going socialist or communist as Rosie O Donnell stated or we will reverse course completely and re-embrace the free market and the Constitution of the United States” stated Michael Lodee.
The U.S.E. News Site is the exclusive distributor of T.P. Polling and A.H.F. political polls.
